Exploring Egypt's geography, culture, natural history and travel, this video program is designed for students, classrooms, group presentations and travel planning. Egyptian Adventures reveals the exotic contrast between the relics of an ancient civilization and modern Egypt. You will experience the warmth of Egypt's people and see exquisite works of art that are thousands of years old.

A horseback ride among the pyramids of Giza follows an opening montage of Egyptian images. Views of Cairo are followed by Alexandria, the beaches and deserts of the Sinai Peninsula and Mt. Sinai, where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments.

After bargaining for spices in a bazaar, you will embark upon a luxury cruise on the River Nile from Aswan to Luxor, Thebes and beyond. Winding its way through the Sahara Desert on its 4,000 mile journey from central Africa to the Mediterranean Sea, the world's longest river has nurtured thousands of years of Egyptian civilization along a narrow strip of agricultural green.

Cruising on the Nile seems like traveling in a time machine. Modern cities and ancient temples are separated by long expanses of Egyptian rural life, little changed over the millennia. Sleek cruise boats share the river with timeless sailing feluccas, barges loaded with camels and freight, and fishermen smacking the water with long poles as they attempt to drive Nile perch into their nets. Traveling by horse carriage, felucca and on foot, your Egyptian adventure concludes with the temples of Abu Simbel, Philae, Edfu, Esna, Kom Ombo, Dendera, Abydos, Luxor and Karnak.

Designed with classroom and group presentations in mind, the 20 minute length of this video leaves time for discussion, although it contains as many shots as much longer programs.
